Full Moons in General

Full moons coincide with the culmination of the past six months' efforts. They involve tension between what is felt physically and emotionally and what is known and seen.

You can identify the area of your life that is coming to fruition at this time by looking at the sign in which a full moon occurs and then noting which house that sign occupies in your own natal chart. The Topics by Rising Sign section at the end of this article will help you do just that.

If you set intentions six months ago during the new moon in the same sign, this full moon is a great time to take stock of how those plans have worked out. Think about what worked, and what needs to go in order to reach your goals for this area of your life. Then make plans and set intentions for the next six months to drop whatever has proven to hinder your progress and focus on the most functional approaches.

This Full Moon's Chart Features

  • Moon in Virgo's third decan: Our emotions and bodies are concerned with usefulness, analysis, synthesis, and adaptation at this time. We feel the finite nature of life, and consider the meaning of our contributions to society in light of our bodies' inevitable demise.

  • Virgo's ruler Mercury in Pisces' second decan, sextile Uranus in Taurus: The feelings described in the previous bullet come from an emotional thought process. These thoughts are intuitive and difficult to describe in words, like trying to explain the logic of a dream. Yet they do make sense to us. Communicating might be easier through abstract media such as music or painting. In fact, swapping sound and color for words could lead to breakthroughs regarding changing resources.

  • Moon trine Pluto in Capricorn: Our feelings regarding our mortality and usefulness flow effortlessly with our tendency to penetrate deeply into uncomfortable topics such as death, sex, and abuse of power.

  • Sun in Pisces' third decan, separating from a conjunction to Neptune, copresent with Mercury and ruler Jupiter in Pisces' second decan: The deep feelings described in the previous bullets are illuminated by our riding an emotional roller-coaster fueled by massive fantasies. These fantasies are probably likely to be positive, but they could just as easily be nightmares for many. Either way, it's all in your mind. Whether you're freaking out or blissing out, check in with reality from time to time. Remembering that you control your imagination, choose healthy and supportive visions.

  • Mars and Venus in Aquarius' first and second decans square Uranus in Taurus: Meanwhile, we experience a fierce desire to protect our freedom while also seeking to connect with others in a manner that respects each person's sovereignty. This need for independence causes friction with ongoing, sudden changes to resources that are normally predictable.

  • Aquarius' ruler Saturn in Aquarius' third decan: The dilemma of whether to persist or break free of a responsibility influences the need for independence described in the previous bullet. To stick with our obligations feels oppressive, but to abandon them means letting others down.

Recommendations

  1. Review the past six months, specifically regarding usefulness, analysis, and how you contribute to your community.

  2. Check the rising sign list below and think about the corresponding house topics as well. Consider the actions you've been taking in these areas of life and whether they are helping you achieve your goals.

  3. Keep what's working, discard the rest. Leave behind activities that aren't bringing you closer to your ideal vision for usefulness in the life areas specified by the rising sign list. Focus your efforts on those approaches that do work.

  4. Find creative ways to express how you feel, such as movement, music, visual art or poetry.

  5. Don't believe everything you think or feel right now, as our critical faculties are not functioning optimally in this Astro-weather.
